Buy some 99% isopropyl alcohol (not rubbing alcohol) and some Q-Tips.

Clean everything on the tape path (except the rubber rollers should have rubber cleaner), wet one, dry ones, repeat...
And good light. Watch for stray fuzz.

I like those flat yellow head cleaner sticks....
,,,from Radio Shack.
They're like a soft terry cloth kinda things, like that material you clean and dry cars with.
You don't have to worry about leaving any fuzzys like with q-tips.
...but Q-tips work well too.
