Chris,
Just curious. When you sent Jamal those tracks that were not autotuned, were they compressed? I think compression sometimes has that processed sound which can be intepreted as AT.
Yeah, they were...I overcompress my vocals...mbuster can probably confirm that the vocal track as recorded has all the dynamics of a tabletop...lol.

Chris, I'm sure you sound great without the AT why use it?

I would imagine that that is the one thing that may not hold up over time in your music. Autotune is so 2001.

Will you lay off his state? :D

Because people hate it. I'm not even joking. I have this component of my personality that just makes me try to walk through a wall rather than using the door; if somebody points the door out to me, that is.

If my Iowan songwriting partner here tells me to change something, I'll do it in a heartbeat (I hope I've proven that, lol). He hasn't asked (yet).

There are plenty of tunes on my page that don't have any Antares at all, b/c it's not appropriate for the song...Keep in mind, Jake...I'm the guy who actually LIKES "3 Doors Down," and the way the sinelike vocals blend together. I know I can sing, and while I don't wanna' offend anybody, I think I'm entitled to add any effect to my vocal that I like. I'm sure your songs would sound just fine if you threw a chorus in, Jake...why don't you?

I really like the song. Good feel to it. Good sounding guitars. Lots of energy.

I think the vocals need to come up (especially the "ahhs" in the intro). I think there's headroom to work with - but they're competing with the guits right now and the guits are winning. I couldn'tke out enough of the words to comment on the lyrics. I liked the drawl on certain words though

If possible I might recommend using a snare sound with a little more body to it. This one had a certain "thinness" to it. I think a thicker snare would work better on this particular song. However, I have no business commenting on drum sounds.

Good job.

Ok ok..good point.

I see where this is going.

Translation: "I Chrisharris love autotune because I bought the hardware version when it was first released and it's not worth selling nowadays....so fuck you jake".

Just joking man...

I get it already.

I'll be a fan anyway.

Hey Buster,

That can't be chris singing... it's way too.... er... modern. :p

what happened to that sleepy ol' time country music you used to make....? :p you're dissapointin' me man... ;)

Definitely different. Pretty decent recording too. Canned drums are a bit too much in some places, but definitely some of the better canned drums around here. Wierd ending... let me guess... that was chris's idea. :p :D

WATYF

chris,

sell your house, your car, and your left nut and move to NYC.

You have the talent to make it in this business.

A+ all the way.

I'd have to see Chris sing this in person.

Great job.
I would dig the drums up a tad, canned or not.

SO now it has to be "Screamin' AutoHarris"(Antares Jingleheimershmit)

I dig it a ton!
Joel:D

So....I guess you would call this Modern Classic Neuveau Punk Country Rockabilly?? :D

Or excellent modern rock....yeah...that's it...that's the ticket :D

Did I get the genre right??

The drums are killer..........man o man....this rocks musically!!!

The guitar is cool but I would like a bit more fuzz on it....just a tad....gotta make them ears bleed...ya know?

No lead either...but that's cool....

Bass is non existent...is there a bass track?

Want one? :D

so...who is this Chris Harris guy??

is he a new member??

Maybe he'll collab with me....hmmmmm....

nahhhhhhhh...he sounds like the lawyer type to me...ya know? :D

Good job guys...you all Rock!!

Hey Joe: I guess you can tell, I had kind of a backlog, lol. You should have NEVER told me you weren't in a hurry...there's only one more track in front of our deal though,...I'll finish this little conversation in your thread, lol.

jcmm - Actually, the lead on this is no big deal. I just sound like I'm dieing b/c I have no range. I'm USUALLY stuck in the position of singing the high background parts live...now THAT'S something worth seeing. I have pictures...with very few exceptions, all of the live pics I've ever seen of me show my face contorted in a severe "I'm hurting" type of grimace, lol.

Cyan Jaguar - Of all the freakin' nerve, lmao...I didn't so much as play a NOTE on this, lol. Or program a tom hit, or anything else that makes it sound good. Hell, I didn't even mix it, heheheee... It is our resident Iowan who needs to move to the big apple...after all, I already live in a world famous town (Waco, Tx) - Seriously, thanks for the listen. Now stop tortiously interfering, and doll out some quid pro quo where it's due... :D

WATYF - I still snuck some "cornfederate" (read that word again) in here. I really try to leave the hick at the gate on stuff like this, but you know what they say...you can take the hick out of the country, but you can't make him drink...no, wait...that's totally wrong. Screw it, "THANKS FOR LISTENING!!"...and congratulations on the lifetime bonding thing. You deserve peace and happiness...(too bad you've chosen marriage). :D

Guernica - I have yet to hear you do two songs that sounded remotely alike, so you get the inspiration award on this one, lol. Don't laugh too hard, but this is actually a lot closer to the stuff my band does. They reluctantly play some of my tunes sometimes, but most of the time, I'm just required to provide "gutteral ambience."... The lead singer in my little band is a monster vocalist/entertainer... One of our early "reviews" (college) dubbed him a "monster vocalist" and me "The Cookie Monster Vocalist." - it was NOT a compliment, lol.

MMM - YOU MISSED ALL THE SYNC PROBLEMS WITH THE BG VOCALS!!! - I'll take that as a sure indication that they're not loud enough, lol. Thanks for the ear, and I appreciate the kind slant you put on my drawl, ;)

Kramer - Thanks man...I've already paid you for listening, right? Hooky guitar tunes rule...somebody (perhaps you) needs to teach me how to get an electric tone that is both beefy, yet edgy, yet warm, yet bright, but not brittle. Please, somebody turn me on to an "anti-sucktone" plugin or something...

...MBuster?...please??

Thanks everyone for listening, I new if I put Chris's name in the thread title we'd get a lot of listens. I'm going to try some remixing here shortly. It's been a long day though so no promises. Not everyone can be a hotshot texas lawyer living in a diamond house with a flying maid and a golden lawn boy scampering about the estate. Some of us work for a living. :D
As for the bass, is it really too low? Man I can hear it like crazy. Maybe it's cause I played it. And the drums, well I'm not a drummer and I don't know how to use loops and samples and crap, so I just program my drum machine by hand. It's hard not to have a drumming background and make them sound realistic at all. The problem is, real drummers never bow to my unyeilding fist of control. Plus I don't know any. Anyway, hopefully version 574 should be up in the morning.
P.S. Chris, The guitar tone is just what comes out of my guitar. After I fuck with it a bunch.

That's pretty cool. Great guitar tone, good job on the vox chris. You guys might have a whole new genre in the works... Redneck Emo :D

Wow...that surprised me a little bit...in a good way. I like the song and I like the sound & I like the vocal.

Sue me...but I like the scream in the beginning. I don't like the screams in the middle or end. Maybe if they were a bit more in tune ;) (where's that Autotune when you need it :D:D). j/k man...seriously...don't hit me :D.

If I had a complaint it may be that the bass & kick are a little weak, but then again...computer speakers own me :D

Nice work guys this is a winner & the newest entry to my keepers folder :)

Well it all sounds real good here.

Of course getting the nice "buster" treatment behind the vox couldn't have made it too hard to sound good :D

Well i like what you've done but i can still hear a little bit of country in there and it's weird to me. Your voice seems really well suited for the country stuff, in this case it reminded me of like British actors trying to mimic american accents. Nothing you can put your finger on.

I didn't get to hear the other versions so i don't know what to compare too but good jobby job.

I would like to learn about this autotune, is it expensive?

I'd like to get an autosax program if you have one to spare please.
