For the price range most of us are looking at, the DMP3 is the best thing out there, hands-down.
Bruce makes a good point in that you should save your money in the meantime for something of higher-quality. A good preamp can make all the difference, and really good ones do not come cheap. But untill then, enjoy your DMP3. It's got a lot of good, clean gain, and it does your microphones justice.
It certainly doesn't do anything to take away from the sound of an already-god microphone, which is all you can really hope for at it's price point.
I've got a lot more to say on this, but I am going to post it, appropriately, over on "the Rack" forum where it belongs. I've got a lot to say on the subject, so I welcome anyone's opinions -- positive or negative.
