This band "The Thirsties" just got done with an album at my studio, and they wanted me to post a couple of songs for internet radio play. Anyhow, let me know what you think!

Good job Warren!
As far as the band, I will reserve comments on the performance since its not a genre that I feel comfortable commenting. Sorry if its a cop out.
One comment then.. the 1st tune, could'nt quite understand the gtr line. May be a 'new' thing I dunno but it was distracting.

Very well done, man. Clean and balanced. The vocalist didn't hit all his notes, but I have no negative comments about the recording quality. Kind of reminds me of Superchunk. Strong work.

Very nice Warren. I listen with head phones and really loved the guitars. Nice job with the delay in the second song.
The band is pretty cool. Nice songs. How did you record the guitars?

If these guys don't get signed, it won't be because of bad recording or mastering. Nice job. I can't comment on the music quality because I don't really know much about the genre, sorry. But it's a good solid mix, even if the songs seem a bit interchangable...

Wow, sorry for the delay! DIdn't realize anyone axed me a question.

The guitars were first recorded using Safe Sound Audio P1's as D.I. units, then that signal was sent out and I used a Reamp box so we could tweak the sounds further. This was so we could record guitars and drums in the same room without amp bleed, and for choosing different amps during mixdown. The guys played while monitoring their track with Amplitube.

The mics were CAD VSM, M9 and N/D 468. The CAD VSM when I needed a bigger fuller sound, the M9 when I needed a little less high end, and the N/D 468 when I needed a smaller sounding track to fit in the mix. The mic preamp was again the Safe Sound Audio P1.

Hope this helps!

This is VERY VERY good. First class mix which leads me to my next question. How are you mixing? In the box or through a console? Also tell me about your drum mics and preamps. I fing this the weak point on 99% of the stuff I hear from Homereckers. The cymbals splash very nicely. I'm impressed.

Hey War, what up?

Like a few others, I dig the production even though I am not really into the genre of the music. Everything has it's own space and really plays nice with everything else. (please note that I'm listening using my computer rather than my audio workstation setup) I'm wondering what you used to record the drums technique-wise and equipment-wise. Especally the kick, what mic and pre?

Hey, when you get a chance, please check out our latest tune "Come Clean" and let me know what you think.

Thanks!
