Big Ray, I have a Traveler too, and I'm getting it upgraded by Black Lion Audio in January. Seems like a relatively cheap way to get those converters up to speed. I bet the Traveler and the BG-1 make a nice portable setup, especially for working "off the grid." Thanks again for posting those samples of the BG-1.
 
Here's the schematic for the phantom blocker. All caps are poly film box type, 63V rating. The values are somewhat fungible. 4.7uF is on the small side; there will be some loss of very low frequencies (below 40Hz) with that, especially with a low input impedance preamp (less than 1.5Kohms). However I prefer to use poly caps, and that is the largest manageable size in a small enough package to fit.

Instead you could select electros, in that case I would recommend between 12 and 47uF in the Panasonic FC or Nichicon PW series, again with a 63V rating. 47uF is sort of a stock value to see in preamps for phantom blocking at the input stage, but that is based upon the theory that there will be several more stages of DC blocking necessary in the signal chain. Again it doesn't particularly matter the value unless you are trying to get it small enough to use a poly cap.

Another alternative is to use an electro paralleled with a small (0.1uF) poly.

The diodes act as a limiter in case something really interesting (AC current, DC impulse) gets past the caps.
 
No problem man. I use the Mytek Stereo 192 for the conversion part, and couldnt be happier.

Okay, I *knew* those weren't stock MOTU converters in those recordings!

I emailed DAV Electronics when this thread first started about the BG1 but I haven't heard back from him yet. It's the holidays I suppose...
