Cheap wall treatment

Build a gobo instead! All that is is a couple of pieces of partical board on hinges (tall enough to tower ove rthe mic) with some carpeting or something on the side the mic is. That should deflect a lot of garage noise away from the mic, while the carpet on the inside absorbs your voice some so that it doesnt bounce around the garage so much. I learned about gobos in a recording book I bought by David Franz. Cheap to build and helps in a lot of situations where space is not handy. Because you can easily move a gobo wherever you want.
