Here are the options I found.
I was going to get a MSH-3 but just when I was going to order it, it got discontinued, exactly the same happened with the MSH-4 >=o(
THe other option is pay a little more to get a drum pack like this one. Or just stick with something I already have.

Anyway... vote, suggest, or comment :)

Edit: Woops, I forgot to add the option for another bugdet mike...

I use a Cheapo Audio Technica Mic that I got for $25 on sale a couple years ago, I think it is an AT99 but I"m not sure cuz it is allways in my Kick Drum..It has a Quite Large Diaphram so that is why I use it and it sounds pretty good...

:D

I just got a PG52 in a trade. If i was paying MSRP, I would have maybe coughed up the extra $100+ for like a D112 or a good Audix mic or something, but I got this pretty cheap, and I tell ya, its not bad. I'm definitely getting better sounds with this thing than with a SM57 or my other "regular" dynamic mics. I don't have much personal experience with the better stuff for frame of reference though... good rule of thumb is not to spend too much dough on the cheap stuff, maybe look for used?

I wouldn't get the mic packs though. do you already have overheads?

Yes, I have overheads (Rode NT5). That is why I might be looking for a kick/tom package.
As for the PG52, it costs 120. And the Beta52 costs 180. If I was to buy a shure, I would wait for the beta. And 120 isn't cheap, it's quite close to industry standart mikes.
And if I was to spend 180$ on the beta 52, I would prob just wait untill I have 400 and get the drum pack: Beta 52 and 3 SM57 with drum mounts.

I use and really like the Audio Technica ATM25. I see them on eBay fairly regularly going for $50 to $100.

How about the K micro drum pack or Edge 7 piece pack on eBay?

The ATM25 and the Audix D6 are both good for modern style kick mics. Both can be purchased used for @$100 or so with a little judicious shopping. I have both and purchased them on e-bay.

Also Peavey 520i/tn

Hi,

Plus one on the ATM25. Be sure you get this and not the AT PRO25 which is a different mic than the ATM25.

I also like the Peavey 520i (same as the 520tn) for kick and bass and many things.

Both of these mics are under $100 used and they are both versatile mics. Not for kick only. Both are also good for live sound.

Thanks,

Hairy Larry
