Cheap device to send and receive midi.

I'm messing around with generating and receiving midi signals for the first time.

I'd love to have a device I could plug a standard midi cable into, that would actually make tones in response to getting proper midi on the wire. And to test the receiver side: I'd love to have a device that generated proper midi signals for me to test my receivers with.

Ideally, I'd want to spend sixty bucks or less for such a device on Amazon Prime. Know such a device?
Cheap, accepts a standard midi cable, sends midi, and does something in response to receiving midi?

Or if I can't get that in one device, know two cheap devices, one to test sending and another to test receiving?

I'm curious.
You appear to not have any MIDI equipment at all if you are looking for something that receives MIDI and sends MIDI. So, what possible reason could you have for wanting to generate and receive such signals?
Not hostile, just really curious. No; make that REALLY curious.

Count me as really curious, too. It seemed to me that baudot was simply describing a cheap MIDI keyboard controller. Can they not be had for sixty bucks or less?

My guess is a wi-fi lighting control app or synth app.
