No, not a chance.

Ideal for business like media interview, conferencing, speech, on- stage, filming and television

On/Off Switch, easy to use

Energy exchange: Condenser

Frequency response: 100-16000Hz

That mic is not designed for any music application and would probably sound like ass. Just because it's a "condenser" does not imply that it is good.

NO NO and NO!

Used correctly, the 57 is actually a good vocal mike for recording- warm and self compressing.

save up for 57

a clone still aint no SM57 or 58,

if you walk into a guitar center and try to deal with 'em you can maybe get it for $80

it's a way worthy investment,, durable as hell, versital,, the classic snare mic,, guitar cab, vocals just grab a chunk of foam from somewhere for popper stopper

I havent see a post on cheap condensers yet here...??

For me a cheap condenser would be at AT4033.

I guess AT2020's might be ok. Look a lil cheap tho.

hey,

have a look at the superlux h7a mic, it felt much easier than the 57 to find the sweetspot, it's cheap (only 75$Can, half a shure 57) and it's a condenser, would probably do a really good job at vocals, haven't tried it yet.

sorry fldrummer

no I didn't mention a cheap condensor but did you see greendank was looking at a $10 mic,,, no offense killerkhief but there's no free lunch

I recommend the SM57 because you'll get a ton of miles out of it

A cheap condensor people seem to like thats under or about $100 is the Studio Projects B1,, follow a few threads on it..

And don't write off 57 or 58 clones either as there are some out there that are (surprisingly), quite good. A couple of years ago I borrowed a couple of 58 clones from a store and compared them to my genuine 58's......the difference, if any, was not worth worrying about. I then purchased off Ebay, a s/hand 57 clone which in a blind test couldn't be picked from the 4 genuine 57's I own.

Obviously, there are some dodgy clones out there but they're not all bad...............just cheap :D

57's and 58's are pretty resilient as well. All the sm's I own, I bought used for under $50.
Ebay's good. Also check out www.musicgoround.com for used gear - Ive had great experiences with them. Both the 57's and 58's sound great and are useful for asslods of things (including certain vocals).

Good luck,
Todd

If you can get an Oktava MK-319 for cheap from Guitar Center, :-) do some simple mods to it.
