Time to move on to prorecording.com, Macle... :)

Go away!

LOL

:D

Pure genius from beginning to end.You ARE a star and dont let anyone tell you differently.

You are by far the best this board has to offer.

Great Tune

Man, this sounds really great. At first i was thinking that there was too much verb on the vocals but i think it is sitting better with me now. This is proof that great recordings can be done at home. What if Ken Shirley,Bock Rock, Mutt Lang, George Martin, Rick Rubin decided to live in there studios. it would then technically be a home studio. I think their recording quality, and ability would drop...NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good job. And home recording rules!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, I can't believe the great reaction. This board is the best. You guys are too cool.

joro-I was listening to some songs, and noticed quite a bit of bass, and thought I hadn't been pushing mine enough. Maybe a bit too much. Thanks!

F_cksia-Thanks. I dig Oasis, so that's great ( a lot of people, at least here in America, don't for some reason, that's the feeling I get anyway). Robbie Williams, that's pretty cool. I've only heard a couple of his (big hits), he seems to have a sense of humor. It's great people hear different things (someone recently compared my vocals to Axl Rose?!?)

Guernica-Thanks very much! I've got an API repackaed deal from Brent Averill. I wanted to get a classic pre, and API was the cheapest. I've never seen a bad comment about API. It's a dark pre, I guess not as airy-fairy as a Neve or something. You smell money? I think I'm allergic :(. If this song makes millions, I'll definitely send Crawdad something (a nice thank you card :D ) If Emeric and I did something together, we'd prolly overdose on Lennonesque!!

F_cksia-TripleM, another Lennon guy (at least vocally I think). Would be cool, but Yoko says no-no :D .

Gotta go, more replies later. Thanks everyone. I sure do appreciate it.

nice dude

Really cool opening. Sounds very much like an old 45! Good tune, easy going and great recorded parts. Everything was played well and sounded good.

Hey Macle,

Love the song. Changeups are cool. Hey are you using the same setup (NTK-vox&acoustic...) Because this sounds better than some other mixes of yours, perhaps because it's less crowded. Cool effect on vocals (is that a waves delay?) Definately one of your best (at least the mix) Are you using the POD on this? Do compress the electric and/or acoustic guitars (how much?)

Nice job!

Andre

Oh one more question: Does your distressor have the "british" option?

My voice has been compared to lennon by many but you sound more like him that me, I think.

;) ...Hey macle! Man you're still putting out #1 hits! Damn, i'll just gush a bit and be on my way:D . Between 1:20 and 1:30 you seem to put a little more "soul" in the ole vox department, I really loved that part of the tune. If I was a real engineer, you know i'd tear yer ass apart..hehe, but this sounds really really great on my set-up. I seen your pic's up on n/w...Max is a super hottie!:D your as ugly as me hahahaha!! Just teasing man:) SUPER tune from you guy's!*****

David

btw; I liked the effects you used on this...please tell.

blah blah blha your recordings are awesome.

it reminds me more of ELO than the beatles. maybe 'cause i don't like the beatles. anyway, there are so many shitty rock stars i, but it sounds like you actually practice your instruments and tune them unlike a million percent of whatever is on the radio. cool job on your music, i enjoy it a lot

The electrics sound so good! POD? Man I gotta know the settings you used. Awesome man!

So much to hear and so much to learn from it... outstanding separation and fielding of the players in the sounscape. Tones are clean and natural sounding.

good one, Macle

I like the effect on the vocal, reminds me of Lennon's solo works. It gives it that oldie's feeling. I can't believe this is a "quick" demo:eek: My girlfriend was listening to this with me, and she asked, "how come this guy's stuff is always so fitting and perfect?" I later found out she meant "professional":D

By the way, did you ever get my email from about 2 weeks ago? Anyway, I had a question but now it's all taken care of, so, don't worry about it if it got lost somewhere :)

Keep up the good work, man!!

Al

Hey!

I really liked this one Macle. Your voice is on its own (your harmonies are always great though) and it makes it more personal for me. You really are great at producing too. you the man. Perhaps when I get home we could write and record a track together, if we have time. Later.

Erland? And Macle? Together?? Geez... that would be some sort of super-collab! You gots ta make that happen! :p

sounds for me like beatles meets robbie williams - very cool - perfect recording - studio quality - great voice - love it!! :)

That'd be the reunion of the Beatles...LOL :D

The vocals remind me of Al Stewart a bit. Most people know his "Year of the Cat", but few know his other songs, which are quite good. (His guitar-playing is better than average too.)

Macle, I enjoyed your tune...... I can hear some good pop influences, and I think you have your own thing carved out. Thanks for the nice listening experience. Keep rocking, popping, or pop-rocking. You know what I mean.

WATYF-Thanks! You could be right about the lofi intro, although I almost prefer that sound to the "hifi" sound :p :).

Emeric-The drum heads on my drums are so old and dead that I went for the towels on the drums sound. Haven't heard of Emmett Rhodes I don't think. Will check it out for sure. Thanks Emeric!

HevyD47Ca-Thanks a lot! There are links to all the songs from the Nowhere site if you want to check them out.

PhilihP-Thanks very much. I especially apprecite the "still original" comment.

Sluice-The delay on the vocal? I stuck that on the refrain part (b section) at the last second, sort of a bit of ketchup based on insecurity. Then it's on the outro bit. Is it the refrain that's not working, or the other? Thanks very much Tom!

studioviols-Thanks for the very complete review! I think you may be right about the harmony vocals verses that guitar junk at the end. Thanks very much!

Stratomaster-I did the lofi intro at the last second, and it was amazingly painless. I know what you mean about spending days on stuff like that. My new motto is, if it don't work quick and easy, then forget it. Thanks a lot Stratomaster!

boydrj-Thanks (especially for the vocal thing, I'm always horribly insecure about that, and I don't have my girlfriend on this one to fall back on!) I've heard a couple songs of Jellyfish, but I need to check out more. Thanks again!

participant-Yep, the ol lofi to hifi, always a good time :). Regarding the clipping, is that something you're hearing (or seeing :) )? Boot scoot boogie? Who is chrisharris? Thanks a lot Chad!

Gotta go again, I'll be back (sorry)

Just a beautiful recording and song. WTF is with this place??? It's NUTS!!

I can hear the beatle-esque influences, great absolutely love em..

Keep em comin Macle.

Macle--I think this is the best mix yet from you! I liked everything about it--all the placements, effects, instruments sounds. Even that muffled snare drum--as it SHOULD be for this, I say! I'm absolutely thrilled with the vocal--I can understand every word from start to finish too!

I must admit, I tweaked the EQ slightly here--rolled the mids down at 2.5k on my Mackie mixer. When I did, it really started to sparkle for my old ears.

I liked the intro FX too--I knew that the hi fi was coming, but it sure took me back to the days of vinyl! Not that you need ANY inspiration, but if anything I said sparked an idea, run with it!

The coolest thing is this doesn't sound like a digital recording to my ears.

I hate to be a pest but I like this song so much...I just gotta know the signal chain....Please detail me.

Gratzi
