i need some insight from some of you Tascam gurus.
I think my Tascam 424III has a channel or tape out issue which might need repair from a techician but i want to be sure i've isolated the problem correctly.
I use Audiograbber and Audacity for my software when mixing down to PC. I noticed lots of sound problems, like something was missing, and then i saw that the secondary window in audacity showed the 2nd channel/track was flatlined. I tested with other recordings to be sure and my monitor speakers work on other songs (in stereo) and the sound waves show in the second window.
So i checked to be sure i didn't mix out with a mono switch on, and i didn't. I also made sure to try different panning positions--even up the middle, and it still flatlined... so i guess there's an issue with my tape out plugs? Or channels? is there any other thing that could cause this, or am i headed for a Tascam techical repairperson?
Appreciate any help.
