What most peolpe these days seem to forget (or most likely, have never been taught) is that "freedom" and "rights" carry with them the extra burden of responsibility and care as to when, where, and how one chooses to exercise those rights.
Just because one CAN do or say something, even if it is totally legal and is an exercise of their personal rights, doesn't necessarily mean it's a good idea to actually DO it. I used to know a guy who's favorite saying was. "I have a right to be angry." I would always respond to him, "Why do you CHOOSE to exercise that right? You also have a right to be happy, you know."
Rights and freedom have far more impact when used thoughtfully, judiciously, and with respect. Conversely they are watered down and treated with less import when thrown around like pennies.
Both freedom and personal rights can be - and often are - misused and abused by those who claim to cherish them yet at the same time seem use them with nowhere near the respect thet deserve.
It's called taking responsibility for one's own actions and treating others with respect.
