CD Track Noise

I am having problems when I burn CD's. I can play a CD in either drive, my SCSI or IDE, and there is no track noise or problems, but when I burn to CD or extract to the hard drive, I get an annoying popping/crackling sound throughout the track. It seems to happen only when I extract to the hard drive but I have had some problems backing up entire CD's. I'm using Toast 3.5 on a Mac. I going to try switching software but wanted to see if anyone can recommend software for Mac. Thanks
 
I have the same problem when I burn a cd thru adatec easy creator, but when I burn a cd thru adatec cd copier I don't have the problem. And it seems to affect the later tracks. So if you find any info out please let me know too!
It's a frustating problem cause the tracks sound great on my harddrive.
