i got a pack of these cd-r's, verbatim 32x, for some reason i cannot burn them using my program adaptec creator 4.... i used to use verbatim 16x all the time and they worked fine.... i also recently downloaded nero so i could edit some mp3, maybe this is interfering somehow or someway..... anybody?????????

Are these music CDR's or Data CDR's ?
They need to be audio CDR's.

Unless I'm misunderstanding you, no they don't have to be audio CD-Rs. Only if your using one of those Phillips stand alone units, otherwise plain old CD-Rs should work just fine. I'm using Adaptec and I make audio or data CDs all day long with no coasters with CD-Rs. Now if you mean to be able to play it in most CD players do you have to burn it as an audio CD and not a data CD, you're correct. You may also have to save that MP3 as a .wav first too and use that to make an audio CD.

Pardon me Track, your right. But I always use audio CDR's for audio recordings. I had some problems trying to use data CD's before as this may be the case for mic key. I'm not familiar with the CDR's he's talking about though.
Even though I dont really know the difference in audio vs. data CDR's, I was told to use audio CDR's. Do you happen to know what the technical differences really are ?

Yeah, the CD-RA(audio) have the SCMS code bit pre burned into them from the factory. This is the seriel copy management code to prevent you from making a digital copy of a digital copy. Otherwise, a CD-R and a CD-RA are the same. I had a Phillips machine when they first came out and took it back because they'd only use the CD-RAs.

Ok, cool, I did'nt know that. I did'nt read your 1st reply completely, but the fact that you cant play audio on a data CD in a CD player was what I did know. Of course now Im off subject as his problem is not being able to burn at all. Perhaps his CD writer will not write at 32 speed.

they are cd r's....... i usually use verbatims 1x-16x cd-r's but the place i buy them from now only carries the verbatim 1x-32x, which should work the same but for some reason my computer isnt reading it and i'll hit create cd and it will tell me to enter a blank cd when i already have one in their....... this is really pissin me off cause it should be working but it's not...... anymore feedback from yall would be much appreciated!!!!!!?????!!!!!?????

I've tried to stick with Memorex and Sonys. Is there a paticular reason you use these CDR's ?

well i got some memorex and they arent workin either.... somethings wrong with my easy cd creator 4......... ive never had this before and i have a huntch it has something to do with me downloading editing programs and maybe they interfered with my creator 4....... do u see this happening????? is there snything u would suggest to try and get this to work again......

You might try to delete Nero and see if that helps. Maybe even uninstall then reinstall Adaptec.

i deleted my nero stuff..... it's still not working right....... everythings cool until i hit create cd and ok then it says to put in a blank cd when one is already in there............ I NEED TO KNOW WHY IT'S NOT READING BLANK CD'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how do you uninstall adaptec and install it if came with my computer???

Wow, that sucks. Im guessing it came loaded when you bought the PC and they did'nt give you a CD for it. My neighbor had this same problem with the same software but I dont know if he ever figured it out. I'll check with him tommorrow and see.

I, for one, have had substantially better results using Nero than any Adaptec app. Maybe they've improved it, but a few years ago I would burn maybe four good cd's for every coaster with Easy CD Creator. With Nero, the only coasters I recall burning were due to crap drivers for my PCI IDE controller (which have been updated).

>but the fact that you cant play audio on a data CD in a CD player was what I did know

Maybe I'm reading this statement out of context, but just for the record you can play .wav files in Winamp and probably many others straight off of a data CDR providing the reader and its supporting interface are fast enough. They're just not readable in regular audio players.

Had to switch to Nero from Adaptec because of the new burner, a Yamaha 3200. The first symptom was that Adaptec didn't even recognize the unit as a burner even though Windows did recognize it and successfully use it as a reader. All fixed by just installing Nero and wiping Adaptec.
