Version, everything I said applies to any action audio related. Be sure to check, speakers and speaker cables as well.

I hesitate to bring this up since you've already taken drastic measures, but...didn't you say the first transfer, Quiet Riot, went okay? I mean, that suggests your hardware was probably okay. Not that you couldn't benefit from an upgrade, but that's why people suggested looking at software settings, like input level.

You may know already, but CoolEdit has record level meters under the Options menu. I always check those while playing my source to see if I need to adjust input levels in the Windows mixer (or at the source) before recording in CE.

Hope your torment ends soon.

Well, everything seems to be working well now, except for the clicks and pops which really frustrate me to no end. I have configured and reconfigured cool edit but Im still getting them.

Its probably an OS related issue. I will probably move back to 98 now that I have the hardware situation in hand.

Version, did you try anything I told you to? I also had clicks and pops and solved them that way. Give it a try

Yep, every suggestion I get...I try. :)

You say you get clicks while playback. Can you connect some headphones directly to the soundcard to test if the clicks are also there?
