Casette gets fuzzy

I find that the sound from the casette player becomes fuzzy after using it for a period of time. I have 4 or 5 hi-fis and all of them are like that. Using the solution doesn't help. My casette deck is like a cd-rom drive, you press a button, the deck comes out and you place the casette there, press the button again and it goes back in. So I can't see the inside of the casette player at all. Can anyone suggest what would be a good solution to make my casette player produce good quality sound again? Thanks. :)
 
Yes, get a Nakmichi used on ebay.
Just kidding. So you can't access the play head to clean it?
 
You have two choices.

1 - Find a decent wet head cleaner; the type that allows you to dab a few drops of Isopropyl alcohol onto a pad that is part of cassette shell type cleaner and play the cleaner tape for 10 seconds to scrub the oxide off.

2 - Open up the unit by taking the top off of it and get in there with Qtips and the same Isopropyl alcohol and scrub the dirty parts clean.

Cleaning tape doesn't work

This is what i used to clean my casette deck. I think it worked the first time i used it, but after that the tape still sounds fuzzy. What can I do? Is it that the material at the bottom of the casette is not suitable for cleaning? Please advise me on this...
 
What you have doesn't seem to have the "sandpaper tape" that physical cleaners of old had, so at least that is good. Did it do this from the first week you bought it, or is this happening lately? And it only happens after a few hours? How old is the unit and how much use have you given it?

After seeing the photose, I hate to knock your unit, but ouch. :(
 
How do sandpaper tapes look like? It's actually a second hand hi-fi, so I don't know exactly how long it has been used. It's been in my house for about a year or so, I think. I don't use the casette deck very often, just that recently I have some tapes to convert. Think I have converted about 3 tapes when it started to get fuzzy.
