Come on Ed, why were you banned from here?

Why, if you are not walters, did you so much as admit to as much in a neg rep you gave me?

Where is your studio now? Where are your banners now?

Where are these multitudes of studios you have worked at? What are their names and their locations?

Where is your website? Where is youre resume? Where is your bio? We've all seen mine. Come on, Ed, let's see yours.

G.

Glen, show me where I admitted I was walters. That will never happened because it didn't happen.

I have never seen your bio Glen, nor your "studio" website. Nor anything other than some lame ass mp3 you made excuses about.

Same for you Keith. Why has your resume page remained blank ever since you built your one website? And why does that website use copyrighted material in an illegal manner?

Just which software is it that you use, Keith, that you feel the need not to name, but rather prefer to call "Pro Tools-like?"

Other than the couple of preamps you name, what else do you use to record your multiple tracks of drum miking that you insist is the only way to go without being "stupid"?

Why do your real name, address, phone number, fax number and buzzer location (next to the car wash? LOL) in public on both of your websites for all of the Internet to see, but get upset when I call you by your real name here? What are you ashamed of? What are you hiding?

And why do you try touting yourself as the brand name "opinionated studio owner" giving pages worth of product reviews, opinions, and general advice columns on other websites and yet crucify others for trying to do something similar here?

What are you afraid of? Can you dish it out but not take it, Keith?

G.

Of course not! Just like you can't find all these mp3's that he has "shared" here.

I guess maybe it's just me but when I start giving advice to a large number of people, I'm prepared to back it up with some sort of proof that I'm not just talking shit. I meet too many people who claim to be things they aren't and I will be the asshole and call them on it.

I've heard tunes from all the old timers around here who actually give out good information, you, chess, harvey, massive and others. And even if you all kick my ass, I have posted just about everything I've done in the last 4 years. Cause I'm not skeerd. I just can't figure this Glen guy out.

Yeah, I agree. I have been willing to post the good, the bad, and the ugly.

If I had a buck for every "wannabe engineer" who has tried to pass themselves off as somebody who has actually worked in the business or recording bands!......

Come on, Ed, are you afraid to answer a few honest questions? I've had to answer them many, many times over already. It's your turn now.

You see Glen, the way this works is this:

You give out some of your officious advice like always.

I come along and say "that isn't quite how it is done in the real world of recording" and ask you to post some examples of your work that uses said techniques.

Now, this is the "stretching" part, you then post an mp3 of some band you have recorded , or even a recording of YOU playing, that supports your officious post.

I then am "schooled" by your greatness.

I have done my part. You have let everybody down by not doing yours!

Yup, it is officially confirmed now.

SouthsideGlen is not really a recording engineer. He has no mp3's of his work because he really hasn't done any work.

I've read Glen's bio. I think it's in the compression uncompressed thing.

And for the record I don't give a shit about the quality of Glen's work, he knows more than I do, and whether or not he puts the knowledge he imparts into practice well or not, which I'm sure he does better than I can, it's still pretty damn useful to me, and as a bonus it doesn't come with any added hostility. I don't give a toss about the rest.

Since when has this been about bios?

I don't need to see Fordvan's bio.

He's posted examples of his work. Numerous times, for the world to hear. And I've made my subjective judgement as to his competency -- or lacktherof -- based on said examples.

Any additional info about his experience / background ... is kinda' nice to know, but ultimately of little consequence. I've heard his work. I know what he can do.
.

I really don't see how this whole nonsense is constructive at all. So "Mean Girls". Ugh.

How do you know it's HIS knowledge? I can post all kinds of shit that I googled. Doesn't mean I know jack shit other than how to find shit on the net.

What I'd personally recommend first is to perform a parametric sweep on each track to ID and remove the most unpleasant resonances and formants from each track. If you're unsure how to do this, just search this forum for "parametric sweep"; you're bound to find many references and descriptions of this technique.

HTH,

G.

You see, it is stuff like this that gets overlooked! "remove the most unpleasent resonances and formants from each track"? It is advice like this that makes me want to hear his work. I know of NO other engineer who does work who I respect who would say something so, well, amateur!

Ummmm.......i have my music in my signature below.........

I played, wrote, recorded, mixed, and mastered all of it all by my lonesome.......

from picking up the instrument and playing it..........to giving away the final polished CD..........

does this mean i can post here, and not be judged?;)

Well, you just gave some advice on double tracking guitars. After reading it, I went to your site to have a listen. Some pretty decent sounding tunes there.

I've heard others give advice on double tracking heavy guitars and their work sounds like ass.

Well if someone is prepared to spend all their time searching the net to find answers for people, then that's pretty cool. I don't give a fuck who's knowledge it is. As long as I aquire it somewhere along the line.

But to be honest, trying to learn, and having it interrupted by 40 year old children arguing over the credibility of someone who is just trying to help is really starting to piss me off. Screw this fucking website. I'm out.

It sounds like something a live sound guy would say.

Absolutely nothing more annoying than live sound guys who think that, because they've done sound for shows / live acts, that they know enough to be recording engineers.

Although a close second might be the recording engineer who thinks he can do live sound. :D Although that's probably not nearly as far-fetched of an idea.

Actually, I have found that live sound engineers make better studio engineers than the other way around.
