Cardioid or Hypercardioid for voiceovers?

I have a multipattern LD (Beyer MC740). The vocalbooth is completely soundproofed / dead so there will be no room sound to consider. Which pattern would be ideal for voiceover work. Also, would you use the low cut filter on the mic or on the preamp? Thanks guys!
 
It really doesn't matter, most voiceovers are done with cardioid but if it sounds good, it is good!
 
dalley, since hypercardioid is a more narrow pattern it's going to be more sensitive to left-right, up-down movements of your mouth/head during VO's. The cardiod pattern would give you more a bit flexibility of movement without having the sound shift/change during movement.

As far as the low-cut/high-pass filter, it doesn't matter. Do a soundcheck using it on the mic and then on the pre and see what you think.

It actually depends, If you are doing ADR work you want to use a mic closest to the one used on set. This would usually be a shotgun mic which is either super or hyper cardinoid. Otherwise if you are not matching something prior done, then whatever sounds good is good.
