Assuming that you've set things up correctly in the Windows mixer...

Did you setup your preferences in n-Track? On the file menu, click preferences. Then click the wave devices button and select your soundcard for both input and output (don't use WAVE IN or WAVE OUT)....then do a "full duplex" test. If it passes then you should have no problems recording.

you may well need to go to www.fasoft.com and download the newest N-tracks driver. I had input problems at first as well until I reinstalled the driver and toggled with the wav devices in N-tracks like Big Slack said.

If I take the line out of a portable CD player into the line in of the soundcard or even the out of my POD into the soundcard line in I can't record. I get sound out of the speakers but can't change the volume no matter what I do. It's one level which is quite loud. Nothing I do with the windows mixer will change the volume of what I hear and nothing I change on the recording side of the mixer will move the recording meter in N-Track. If I use the MIC input I can record all day long. The soundcard is just the cheap one that came with the Compaq system. Help!!

Still no good. Selected sound card for input and output in n-Track and passed the duplex test!! Downloaded from fasoft.com anything they suggested. Still same problem. I can't even record via line in with windows sound recorder. I get sound out but can't modify the volume or balance. Its like the input is routed out as is period! Any other things I should try??????
