OK now that I've read that article, I'm really REALLY curious: what alternate tuning is Voodoo Child in? I've always played it in standard tuning.

I have a problem with the VG strat and the Variax, simply the idea that the strings under my fingers are going at different pitches than the ones that're coming out of the amp. I've never played them, but I seriously doubt the alternate tuning options feel right in anyway. This seems a better fix, but still, this is a very complex answer to a very simple problem.

It's like using an engine to power a conveyor belt that lands a soda in a foam hole, where automated side clamps come in and hold it while a mechanical hook latches into the little opener and pulls it open... why not just open the soda?
