Can't import .wav with waveforms

Hello,

Basically, I recorded some guitars DI and used some amp sims on them. Then i set my locators, solo'd the track, and exported it as a mono .wav. Then, i went to import, found the file and imported it. The file plays as it should and sounds great (keeping the amp sim sound, but not having to use the plugin), but I've run into an issue with this. The file that i import has no waveform, which makes editing my guitars next to impossible.

I watched a few tutorials on how to do this, and those people's tracks are imported with the waveforms, so I know it's possible, and i don't think i'm crazy (although maybe :o). I checked all the same boxes as they, like "add to working directory" and whatnot...

Anyone have an idea of what i could be doing wrong? Is it in the export stage? or the import stage? Any thoughts would be great ones! This is driving me up the wall

Thanks!

No waveform? Quite possible the level of your export was low as well as your zoom level for the waveform itself. Look to the upper right side of your Project Window. Just below the 'X' close window button on PC. There is a slider there that will increase/decrease the size of your waveform.

Oh Nice! I haven't seen that slider before. I'll give it a go when i get back to my machine. Also, should i maybe turn up the volume of the track that i export? I know that it's pretty low in volume. Something like -14 on the channel fader... Will that make an difference?

-14 dBFS is not low for a tracking level. You mean channel 'meter' level correct? This level is pretty much ideal for a track before mixing. Take a look at that zoom level slider. It probably the issue. ;)

Instead of importing manually after export, click the "Audio Track" check box under the "Import into Project" heading at the bottom of the audio mixdown export menu. It will automatically import the file at the correct sample position into your project and will make sure the file references are correct (such as the peak file, etc).

Cheers :)

Thanks guys, Both of the things you mentioned were the culprit. It's all working now!
