O.K. I am a newbie and beginer to this home recording thing so I don't understand everything. First of all here's my setup:

Alto mixer 6 chanel.
Soundcard e-mu 0404
Monitor Alto m-5 passive
Receiver brand new forget the brand
Software: Adobe Audition

I have my mic going into the xlr.
Mixer going out into the in's of the soundcard.
Soundcard going out into the receiver.
Receiver plugged into the monitor by speaker wire.

The problem is I can hear my voice through the mic, throught the monitors just fine but I can't record into audition I see no wave form or anything. I can see the levels in that patchmix software but I don't have a clue how that works.

My question is how do i get my sound to be captured in Audition.

Another thing in audition when I try to see microphone or input is shows only the input from the soundcard. Is that right or should it show a mic?

Any suggestions would be very helpful.

I'm sorry I'm not very familiar with AA, however I would look for a menu item like SETTINGS or AUDIO SETTINGS, something like that where you can select the soundcard you are using. Also on an IBM comp. PC running Windows, sometimes you need to select a recording AND a playback device ie, your soundcard or Sound Mapper (windows' default device). I woud also hook head phones up directly to the OUT of the soundcard to elliminate the other gear in the chain until you get the computer part working properly.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

E-MU 0404 no sound

I recently bought the same card. You will definitely have to learn how to use the software mixer that came with it.

It is through that mixer that you create strips and receivers that will send your sound to the appropriate channels. I have only had mine a few days and thought that I was doing something wrong.

You can download a manual here:

Some sofware needs ASIO channels set up and some need to hear WAVE files.

Hope this helps....Good Luck
