I've been so close to getting a Soundcraft M12...
I'm also getting out board Pres (Sytek)

Someone was just talking me out of the M12 and told me to get a Yamaha MG 10/2, because my mixer will mainly be used for my Monitors. It would be handy to have the extra Pres for scratch or vox for Band practice though.

For $200 this Folio F1 seems hard to beat. & kicks the MG10/2s butt.

One Question... Do I really Not need Direct outs on a mixer if you want the channels to all be separate? You can just use the Inserts? Then that takes away the ability to insert a Compressor, Right? The M12 has Direct outs this one does not.

I really hope I get some responses... because I think I should pick up this mixer and save the $400 from the M12

What do you think?
Thanks,
B.

Your correct with your line of thinking about inserts and everything. If the $400 is better spent on other things and you mainly want a monitor mixer then get the Folio. If you plan on doing any analog mixing you'd probably be happier with the M12.

I'm a DAW user, so I do everything in the Box. I'm thinking that this will get me going and I could sell it if I have more needs in the future.

Actually... Couldn't I still run a Compressor by having the insert go into the Comp unit and then the comp unit go to my Soundcard? The Comp would go after the Pre right ? :o

I feel dumb asking such basic questions... but I never needed a mixer with my Aardvark the last 4 years... & prior to that I was just the player waiting to hear "action".
Thanks,
B.

Yep.

Thanks Tex!

Anyone else have opinions on this mixer?
