i am a amateur musician who has set up a small ( a very small ) home recording. i basically do instrumentals of known songs and compose instrumentals of various generes at my home. i have a p-c with m-audio audiophile 2496 now as soundcard of now. i have nuendo 3 as sequencer . i have a yamaha psr 2000 keyboard which i have connected with my computer and soundcard which i use to trigger midi for vsti and for my kontakt which i use for playing my samples. i also record audio tracks with the preset sounds in my keyboard. i use lot of vsti plugins and vst fx for creation of my music. i am also seriously thinking of adding vocals in future. i am basically frustrated using the mouse as controller for mixing and automation of the tracks with built in mixer in cubase. i wanna buy a tactile controller surface for controlling controls for volume, pan , pitch, EQ, cueing, transport and a crossfader and other basic mixing and automation function. i want simply something with knobs and faders like that .i would not be able to shell out so much money to buy big consoles which is of no use for me.

can some one suggest me a small tactile control+ mixing surface which i can integrate with my daw which can do the work for me? my budget would be around 200 to 300 dollors ( 8000rs to 12000 rs)
:help:

The Behringer BCF2000 has gotten rave reviews for awhile now. Fits right in your budget.

+1..I have had mine for about 4 years now with no problems..I used it with my digi 001 and now my 003!!! you can also link them together if you want more!!

One has faders, one has rotary knobs only.
If you just want to control midi parameters, the knob one will probably be better.
If you want to set volume levels and write automation, the fader one would be best.

Its got a "learn" function that helps you set each indivual button to whatever function you want to.

Look..get the bcf2000..go to the web site..download the shit for cubase, and upload it to the bcf200...You might not have to do any of that though!!

There are 8 buttons across the top...you need to find out what button works for cubase...when you find out.you just hold that button down wile turning the bcf2000 on and your all set...there are pre sets built in for different programs and thats how you select the pre set!!!

I dont use mine for midi..I use it for a mixer. I have no problem moving vsti's with my mouse...but I hate mixing with a mouse!!

thanks a lot jarrydee

seems bcf is the thing for me.

when i was browsing i saw this novation remote zero sl. it says it has automap for cubase and other features too. just thinking whether it will suit me................

has anyone tried it?

Get the bcf!! WE all answered your question of what we think is best for you...why don't you just go with it?

I know how you feel, but you will never get nowhere if you keep searching around and then come back to the bcf a month from now anyway..It will do what you need it to do..so just get it and get to work!!:D

PS.To answer your question..the bcf does the same thing for $100.00 less!!!

Here is a link to the bcf download page!!!

scroll down to presets

A few years back I used to use the Tascam 428 and loved it, had shortcut keys that I could program to do what I wanted.

mate in india both costs almos the same. rs 19000. seems remote zero will cost less as it is newly shipped for a discounted price. and bcf is also about the same price . thats why i wanted to ask repeated questions to make it doubly sure so that i dont regret later

also i talked to the novation dealer here
this is what he said
The BCF2000 is value for money although you cannot automate plug in parameters with it
but he was sounding very naive. so i want to confirm. will i not be able to control plugin parameters?

he also said
Also, I don’t know how smooth the faders are, on it. Many of these units come with noisy faders and this can be very irritating during a mix session.
may be he told that to convince me to get the novation coz he is the dealer for it and he has to get the behringer from someone else...........i really dont mind noisy faders :)

when i went to behringer dealer he told me this
If you use non motorised midi controllers you will have problems using the latch automation mode. It is only good for the overwrite mode as the faders don’t reset when you move back and forth within the song. However they are very handy if you are into a lot of synthesis. You can control almost every parameter on your synth or sampler.

The novation remote zero works just fine and has a lot of controls but, is quite small in size and many people find it hard to handle

again its all getting me confused.....................can some one throw more light
