how?

this seems basic, but i'm really frustrated by cakewalk. i'm about to either upgrade to sonar or change altogether to n-track or something. :(

btw, i'm using cwpa 9.

Livesynth is a DXi, and so does not work with Cakewalk Pro 9.

Don' take N-track and the Dark Path... Upgrade to Sonar! :D

thanks

i should have known that.
so do i upgrade to sonar or just ditch this 'crap' for something vst-compatible? don't get me wrong. i've used cakewalk for a bunch of (audio) stuff, and it worked great, but i'd REALLY like to use softsynths (both dxi and vst). i NEED them. :) what should i do??

If you REALLY like to use softsynths, why haven't you upgraded to Sonar yet? :D

Seriously, I don't see why you should ask that question here. You're in the Cakewalk Forum!

Go buy Sonar! ;)

i think i'll just have to do that.
with sonar i can use fruity loops and dxi synths pretty easily, right, but what about vst instruments? i have installed hubis and the fxpansion adapter, but i couldn't for the life of me get any vst instruments to work in cakewalk, even though i followed to a T the instructions i saw on the net given by the fxpansion developer himself.

moskus,
i already have the fxpansion adapter installed, but i can't get it to work with cakewalk.

You won't get it to work with PA9 (at least not for instruments), because PA9 doesen't support virtual instruments in any form (VSTi or DXi)...

Ok... PA9 dosen't support softsynths DIRECT in the program.

ok. i was not trying to be a smartass. thanks for all the help. :)
