i have a audio cd that is for my pc only. i would like to make a normal cd out of it so i can play it in any player. i dont think i can burn it with the computers cd drive(or at least my try failed)
so can i hook up my masterlink to my computers speaker output jack and set levels and go? i dont see why not.
thanks guys!

If you have spdif on a soundblaster card try to use the digital connectors for a digital audio transfer.

Though I don't know why you couldn't just burn a wav. format audio CD, it should work fine.

no luck with the wav file and no digital connections on the pc.
if the speaker out is line level than my idea should work.

SPEAKER OUT IS NOT LINE-LEVEL......

Don't EVER do this unless you don't happen to like the circuitry of the input-stage of whatever gear you try this with...... you WILL blow your inputs.

to copy a cd to a cd that can be played on most any player:

1: Aquire the desired songs from the original cd to your hard drive. Handy program for this is "Audiograbber".

2: Convert the song files that you nabbed to WAV format. Handy program for this is MP3toWAV convertor.

3: load a blank CD-R (not a cd-rw) into the drive.

4: Open your recording software (Adaptec or Spressa or whatever).... select "audio CD"

5: Drag and drop the converted wav files to the menue"

6: click Test and record...

7: Get a beer

8: take the spiffy new cd, Mark it or be eternally confused.... and pop it in the deck in the other room.

If this fails then there is a chance that you are attempting to duplicate a cd that is "watermarked" or write protected.
