That this message board is pretty much the best recording board on the net?

Sure, we don't all see eye to eye;

"Mac sucks". "No it doesn't" "AMD's and Via stuff is no good for audio" "yes they are" "Delta's suck" "no they don't"

But overall, we remain, for the most part, civil.

On another board (which will remain nameless) I disagreed, politely, when someone said Via's are totally bad for audio.

I said I disagree, but whatever, it's an opinion, as is mine. I said I have had luck with anywhere from the KT133 to the newer stuff.

The response? I must not be a very serious recording guy, because if I was, I would know that Vias are horribly unstable and suck. Intels and SiS are ok though.

And, as if like clockwork, I got the "I've been working on PC's for 200 years, and have built 1 million machines" line. (ok, slight exaggeration, but you catch the drift.

Even if I did get them to work, I was just really lucky.

So of course, me being me I got a little PO'd, thanked him for being condescending, and told him that I too have built a computer or 2 for audio, and that Digi and Echo both say Via's are fine for their cards.

I even provided links. Hell, Digi recommends a Via chipset for optimal performance.

My point? Why do people have to be such hardass no-it-alls?

I know what you're going to say: I am guilty of it at times too, I guess.

But lately I've really tried to think about the wording of my posts, so as not to come off as a knowitall jerk-off.

I just really like the pool of knowledge here, because as much as some of you guys know (which is surely more than I know) most people here manage to express things with a sense of humbleness that nearly never offends.

Thanks for reading this, if you actually got down this far! :D

Sometimes if im in the mood i like to stir a little trouble, not for any particular reason just to spice things up, but its not nice to be offensive but there's nothing wrong with disagreeing right..er wrong...umm you blow! hehehe

That's why I many times preface a post with "In my humble opinion". I also try to stay away from empirical statements about something being the end all-be all. If people continue to insut you it may well be that you're just an asshole.:D (so many people can't be wrong).
