can I do this?

I may have to part with my old trusty Marshall 5212 combo (circa 1988). And I want to get a new Marshall head and temporarily use the 2x12 old combo cabinet for it.

The speakers are Celestion G12M70. I have no idea about these good-bad whatever. (Anybody have any history good/bad on those?)

So can I do this, somehow hook up the new head to these speakers, keeping them in the cabinet? Right now they do not have a dedicated jack to go into the amp part up top; would I make a makeshift box for jacks to the two speakers to the new head?

A 4x12 is in my future but not soon enough..

any comments greatly appreciated

Every combo amp I have ever had has had the speak so you can disconnect it. Just look on the back, under the panels. You should be able to unplug it.

You sill more than likely need a 1/4" extension cable though. Female -> Male. I forgot if they are balanced or not.

...But just make sure the Ohms match up and you are good to go.

Excellent/thanks-

any make on those old Celestion G12M70 speakers? A good year/a bad year? I've never seen anyone mention those one way or another.
