Hi,
I have some homemade electret microphones with the (unbalanced) panasonic capsule with these specs: http://www.panasonic.com/industrial/components/pdf/em06_wm61_a_b_dne.pdf
I made these mics because I was hoping to record cheaply directly into my computer sound card or cameras or minidiscs etc...
The problem is that my motherboard audio is mono and quite crap. So I am thinking to buy an audio interface after all. Now most audio interfaces (if not all) give 48V phantom power. The ideal and maximum voltage consumption of these capsules is 10V. Now I wonder. Would the phantom power hurt the mic, given that I solder some convertor for 2 XLR's to unbalanced stereo 3.5mm jack? If not, would the phantom power feed the mic or would I need to make a battery box to feed it? If so, are there audio interfaces which could give 10V? Or could I solder some electronic component in a wire that would limit the current to 10 V? I just don't manage to figure what my best options are...
Thanks in advance, as I don't manage to figure these things out myself...
