i bought some butterfly clips and some cheap sm57 ripoffs to use on toms, but i've just discovered that neither of them come with the silver male piece to connect them, they're both female ends! is there a place where i can buy some of these? i can't imagine them costing more than like, 2 cents.

I have been looking for them also.
But I have used the inserts that convert a mic clip to the smaller thread (1/4 20) to connect them together.

I bought some years ago at Radio Shack! Don't know if they still sell them.

The Radio Shack is a little old place where...
Dweebs can get together!

Radio Shack ba-hey-bee!!! :D :D

so you convert it down on one side and convert it back up on the other? where can you get these? i need them this week, otherwise it looks like i'll be duct taping shit all over the place

No just use at as coupler. Only screw it in 1/2 way then connect the other end to it. Should get you buy in a pinch.

When I first saw this post my hopes jumped but now I still have my question - - - - Isn't there some sort of adapter with female end that will attach to the male boom end on a mic stand and provide 2 different size male ends for attaching clips for two mics -- uni and omni, for example? I picture this as sort of a 'Y' shaped adapter with 2 different sizes of male extensions. In my case (as amateur hobbyist music recorder), I have a mic stand with a boom to which I can attach my dynamic uni. But now that I bought a condenser mic for omni purposes, I find the clip that came with it will not fit the boom extension. I would like to keep both mics attached to the stand at all times -- and perhaps even use both at same time. I had thought that this would be a common situation and that there were easy solutions -- but I haven't discovered them. Can someone give me help?

i'm still looking. i never thought mic clips would pose this much of a problem

They don't
What you have is a mic clip and you are trying to use it for something else.
Is this what you have?

This is what you should have. Then you can put a mic clip on it.

You could get this.

i have the bottom thing, i'm clipping that onto the mount that holds the toms on. the other end is a large female end. the clips for the mics that i'm using are also a female end. neither came with the threaded silver piece that would connect the two.

thats something i have that works.. it came with another mic clip. i'd need them longer.. and 3 of them.

well radio shack didn't have them, but they did have clips with that little silver thing permanently mounted on it.. for $7. the search goes on

what about the little adjustment rings, I can't find those anywhere
