LOL. And you're paying how much for this service?

G.

Personally for me the "payment" is the challenge of doing something completely outside of my normal domain. It forces me to think about things that I don't normally have to thus helping me to expand my skills.

For me, the learning is payment enough ;)

Agreed!

also..Really nice mix noisewreck

Cybergord.
Can I just check...you say the deadline is Monday 12 amGMT....is that actually Sunday night/Monday morning...or do you mean Monday night 12am?

Only reason I ask is, I was late entering this and I'm still trying to edit the tracks for better timing etc rather than actually mixing for overall sound. With it being the weekend, it's alot more difficult for me to use my monitors with kids running all over the place and the missus vacuming around me. :-)

But no problem if it's Sunday night, it's ok...but I could just do with knowing for sure.

Mart.

Its Ok the deadline is Monday evening midnight 4th may.
Good luck

May the 4th be with you!:D

That's not the point, George. It's not about you, you're not the player here.

Mix two.

Well I've been messing with the mix all night, mostly the arrangement. I decided to get a little creative and I changed the ending vocals a little. It's no problem to just put it back to the default though if you don't approve Cybergord...it's just a matter of dropping and pasting :-)

Would you believe I still haven't run this mix through my monitors other than a very low volume for 5 minutes about an hour ago before uploading.

Anyway, see what you think. I've decided to just add the new mix to the same page so as to keep the older versions for reference, so make sure you check version 2.

Hi Glen.
Would just like to say mate that whilst I was a lurker of this site for a few months, I have always enjoyed reading your post's and have visited your web site a few times too which I have found extremely helpful. So it's a long over due thank you.

Anyway...after reading your last post....are you suggesting that we might not actually be doing this for the real artist ?

interesting mix indeed Mart, Ive had a quick listen on my laptop b4 going to bed. Will check it over tommorrow on hifi. Very good job.

I used to be a home recordist 15 years ago, but with a Fostex X30 Cassette Multitracker. Oh how times have changed.
You can read my story at my updated website gordonadamsmusic.com.
And I have a lot of my songs there to listen to.....
I'm not playing anyone ...but here's a great place to get a mix for free?
Not really, I'll be plugging the positives from this thread for a long time to come.
Cheers all. Keep em coming.

@mart
love the way you switched the vocals at the end.
but the drums , especially the cymbal crash is too noticebale throughout the track, but a great mix so far.

I can already see a problem. I am not even sure how it happened, but your mp3 is playing at 132bpm, but the tracks you sent to mix are only around 125 or 126bpm (I am still trying to nail the exact beat with my metronome). QUOTE]

Hi, I wanted to give your recording a try with mixing it. I'm using sonar 6 and I set my metronome at 132 bpm, and it sounds like its on time. So, I'll give it a try at my best to mix for u.

OK, here's the second mix.

Got a handle on the vocal, cleared up the muddiness, the kick isn't rattling my wife's car's windows anymore and there is more openness to it. I also tried to bring out some of the nice interplay between the guitars.

I could still work on this some more, but I think if the wife hears it one more time she'll strangle me :D

BTW I don't know if I am past the dealine or not. I hope I am not. I was done with this around noon time, but was having internet connection issues.

Lo-Fi Mike thanks for the complement. I really enjoyed your mix as well. I just listened to it a few minutes ago. I like how you got those drums so nice and punchy... although if you don't mind I have a question. The snares don't quite sound like the ones in the original track. Have you used something like Drumagog to replace them? They just don't have that metallic quality to them. If you got them changed through other processing then, kudos! I'd like to learn how you did it.

Something like Bono would use....on the Fly (i think)....I'll think about this for later. Hard to explain.

Thanks, glad you liked it :)

FYI, I can't stand U2 :D

@noisewreck
I really love this mix, you've made it special. Tidied it up very well...can't be faulted really.

Is this your final?

This is still the same mix but I used a "better" program to convert the song to MP3. The one from my audio editor has never done it for me

this is the mix to beat whens the deadline can i submit one?
