Can a TC Finalizer do what an L2 does?

Can the Finalizer be set up to do mix peak reduction/gain increase similar to the 'unobtrusive' qualities of the L2?
I have some time on the L2 hardware ver, but fellow I'll be working with has a finalizer and I've never touched one.

Also, how's the eq section. If it meant being able to skip an Apogee D/A-A/D conversion to get to an analog eq (Avalon I believe), would you eq in the TC?

Thanks
Wayne

from my experience, you can squash a mix more transparently with an L2 than you can with a finalizer.

TC Finalizer works pretty good on peak reduction/gain increase, but it can't be used to eq. The Low Mid and High are used mainly for the frquency you wish to Compress or Limit. Doesn't act like a good EQ.
The Overall performance and quality is good, Very Easy to operate.

By the way, L2 hardware is a much better choice than TC.Finalizer

Thank you both for the input. I sort of boxed myself in, time and option wise on mastering our local project. I'll drag the L2 along then.
Thanks again.

L2 is a limiter

Finalizer is a digital compressor, eq, limiter enhancer all in one box.

Use the finalizer first in the chain and use the L2 last in the chain.

Just a happy update...
L2 comes through again.:D
On the songs I didn't want the inner dynamics messed with, (that's where all our frikin' hard work went to get right in the first place thank you!) we skipped the TC completely.
Smiles all around.
It's sure nice to have our little local effort finally off to the presses. Hey, sometimes you can do 'more' with 'less'. Just takes us (ALOT) longer to get there...

Don`t use the Finalizer at all, that`s the best advice i can give you...

Something was trashing the midrange, dynamics, and covering up being able keep the space between instruments, particularly on the louder sections. I don't have enough experience to know what in the chain was doing it. D/A, EQ, Focusrite comp, Finalizer multiband... We just went digi-eq and L2 on those songs.
I don't know if it drives you all crazy if your pro projects go out of your control and (maybe) get mangled in the final.(?) It's one nice thing about being down at the local level I guess.
Wayne:)
