Intro flute sounds pretty good....guitar and vocals seem to be more even. Bass sits real nice.
I won't say you are there yet...that's up to you, but this is best so far. I can clearly hear the words now, and they don't seem to poke out at all. Gelling pretty good man....
 
finaly it played!!!

to be honest i'm not a big fan of how it is recorded and mixed. i'm not saying it is bad, just that it's very much not me.

that being said : awesome song! i realy like the progressions and changes, fell almost instantly in love with the bassline (who was called mildred and worked as a waitress) and the flute ... well i like jethro tull a lot, knowwhat i mean? very cool.
the melody is good but i think the way it is sang 'flattens' it to much. it should be more pronounced. i have difficulties explaining what i mean since english is not my language. but the melody could use some extremes.

overall good. this is the first time i'm checking out your stuff tbh but now looking out for more.
 
You did a good job on the reverb on the vocals. It's barely perceptible but the vocals are definitely smoother and not as dry and "in your face".

Although I can hear the vocals clearly and they sit nicely, they are bass-y to my ear. Again I am comparing to Softdance vocals using them as my reference.

I'd like to hear a little more highs on the vocals. That's the only thing that I would change about this mix. But a new eq may affect levels/reverb too - not sure....

I'm listening on earbuds right now. I'll try to have another listen on my headphones later to see if there is a difference.

PS - rest of mix is good....

I'm listening through headphones... It sounds like the vocals are on top of the mix. When it is just the other instruments they seem to fit well together... The flute may be a bit loud too.

Maybe the vocals need a bit more reverb to push the vocals back a bit where the rest of the "band" is.

O yea, reminds me somewhat of Rush. Good stuff.

Cool, I heard version #1 of this a few days ago. Sounds like you pretty much fixed up everything that caught my ears. I still think the vox could be improved some. Sounds like messing with some EQing would do the job, like there's some unwanted frequencies in there to cut.
One trick I thought works sometimes is raising the vox's best frequency, lower that same frequency a bit on the backing track a bit, then lower the volume on the vox. This helps mesh them better sometimes...just an idea to try ;)
 
Listened on headphones- not as much bass on the vocals over the headphones.....but still could use a bit of eq to lighten them up a bit.....

I've done an additional mix with the vox pulled back - I'll try to add it onto the end of the remix coming. I kow what you mean, I often like semi obscured vocals.

A little EQ carving? I'll give it a burl.Finding the sweet spot'll be interesting - oh, hangon I downloaded a free VST Freq. Analysis plugin - I'll ry that.
