This review is from: Sell Your Music : How To Profitably Sell Your Own Recordings Online (Paperback)

I read this book from back to cover (it is less than 200 pages) and came away rather dissapointed. None of the topics are explored in any length and many of the ideas can be found in Guerilla Marketing, including existing music industry articles on the internet. Many of of the websites that are cited resulted in dead links and I found some of the ideas outdated. Chapter 12 is an insult to readers with three pages devoted to
setting up an internet record label; and Chapter 14 devoting four and a half pages to home recording. Overall, I felt the material lacked passion and could use an injection of new ideas.

Two posts and he's selling crap.I would be a little more tolerant if he had actually contributed something to the forum.

This is not spam. Mark's message has been pre-approved by me. He is not pushing you to buy his book, he is calling for success stories for the new edition. Furthermore, he was kind enough to let me reproduce a chapter of his book for everyone to read for free.

It may be approved by you but not by long time members who actually contribute to the board.

Here's my story:

I was born in Aston, Birmingham, U.K. My father was a toolmaker and my mother worked for car components. My parents worked hard each day in order to support me and my five siblings. I didn’t do well at school because I am dyslexic. Because of this, I looked towards extracurricular activities, such as music and plays. At 15, I dropped out of school and became a construction site laborer. I switched jobs between being a plumber, toolmaker, slaughterhouse worker, and then a car factory worker. I sometimes got into trouble and was even accused of burglary of a clothing store. I was not able to pay the fine so I spent some time in prison. Eventually, I would go on to become the singer of a local band, and many would recognize my talent. Soon enough with the help of friends, I was able to create my own band, Black Sabbath. Throughout my lifetime, I have struggled with alcoholism and drug abuse. I have been banned from certain cities, arrested many times, and even abused my wife, Sharon. However, I have still been able to produce nine studio albums, three live albums, and many singles that were able to top the charts.
