Hello,
I am having problems when I record to audio my midi tracks in Cakewalk 8.0. I never had this problem before. I can record empty tracks and it will go 7 measures and then give me the Windows Send or Don't Send 'closing down program' message. I am using a Roland XV-5050 connected by USB and Audigy 2 sound card. My system is Win XP Pro, 3.06 with 1 gig ram, 120 HD. It's a Dell 8250.

Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong.
Thank you, Michael

One other thing . . .

If I try to record a few measures at a time, it actually will many times play back part of the audio at a lower pitch and slower time. Any thought?
Michael

Upgrade to a Cakewalk program that was written with 2000/XP in mind.

I am about to purchase Sonar 3 Producer. But now I'm concerned I have a computer issue, a hardware problem, one that will also be an issue with Sonar. Your thoughts on this.
Michael

Hi Michael,

Cakewalk 8 is definitely not suited to run under WinXP. Even Pro Audio 9 isn't supported under WinXP. I would guess that's why it's not working. I haven't used version 8 in a very long time though.

Best regards,
Scott

Don't be. The was no such thing as a USB device when CWP8 was written and as others point out, WinXP wasn't even yet one of Mr Gates' unrecognised dreams.

The engine in Sonar is totally different as are the means of addressing your devices. When you get Sonar make sure you patch it up to 3.1.1 and ensure you get the latest device drivers for all of your audio odds and sods and you shouldn't have an issue.
