How In gods green earth does the guitarist in the band cake get that tone you know the kinda compressed half accustic half electric tone.

Good question.
A friend of mine had one of those Martin portable guitars... can't think of what the hell they are called. It's got a full size neck but the body is really small.
That thing sorta sounded like the cake sound, but I doubt it was the same thing.
