Well, I don't know the audigy platinum, but I suspect that it has a 1/8" line input, and perhaps a mic input. If you want better sound, you'll need a mic preamp which can put out a line level signal, and then a cable to go from the output of the preamp to the input of the card. If you just want to plug the thing in (probably not the best sound, but it'll work), you're going to need to buy one of those cables which has a microphone attachment at one end, and a 1/8" or 1/4" connection at the other end. If you buy a cable with the 1/4" connection, you'll also need a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter.

thanks alot!... i'm not gonna get a pre amp... so if anyone could post any links to show the cables i need i'll be happy.. the sb audigy has the larger connection thingies so i dont think ill need an adapter

Call your local Radio Shack. It's your cheapest way out.

yup, the Shack is your place! Tell the guy what you need, and he should be able to help you out. Microphone cable with a 1/4 inch end, and then a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter should do it.

okay i still have a couple of questions... first off are radioshack cables a big sacrifice in quality? if it is im not gonna save a few bucks.. then i don't know how much you guys know about my sound card but i think i have the needed plugs..( sound blaster audigy platinum and it has the front bay thing) welll thanks alot for the help you guys!

Don't get the cable at Radio Shack. Just the Connectors. Bring the mic cable to the store with you and tell the salesman you need this to go to a computer soundcard. 2 connectors should do the trick. A XLR to 1/4 converter, then a 1/4 to mini plug to the soundcard. But beware that it will not sound very good without that preamp.

I'd just use the standard little mic that came with the computer connected to the mic input until I could afford a preamp and better soundcard. Otherwise it's just not going to sound really good.
