Cable Help

Im trying to hook up my digital recorder to some monitors and need help with what type of cables to get and where. The recorder is a VS-1824 which I believe uses RCA connectors while the monitors are yorkies which either connect with 1/4 inch or XLR connectors. Then comes all this other junk about being balanced,TSR?,single line level, a wire for each monitor, shielded, gold something or other etc etc.....obvioulsy im more a singer then a technician so id like any help on how to get this moving along. If anyone is familiar with this setup please get back to me...im getting a headache. Ive already been to a couple guitar shops and they always send me somewhere else so i thought id go this route.

I'm guessing those are active monitors then?

If the digital recorder is using RCA outs, then the output is unbalanced. Get yourself a decent pair of 1/4" unbalanced cables (suggestion: Mogami, Canare, Monster) in whatever length you need and pick up a 1/4" to RCA adaptor at Radio Shack....

That's all there is to it!

Hey, not so fast...

Make a cable. Go to the electronics store get speaker wire and two 1/4"connectors, two RCAs and solder tip to tip sleve to sleve.
An adaptor is an extra source of possible noise and troubles. Engineer your studio. Custom lengths are the way to go...Blue Bear knows that.
