Cabinet Simulators. Should or shouldn't? Please advice.

Step 1. I started recording with a Line-6 but clean was never convincing, low freq were loose and crunch was dying too soon. No mics available.
Step 2. Used a heavily modified Super through a Hot-Plate to Line-6 line, skiping the preamp and using the cab sim. No edges, might be too compressed however sounded "nice" in the mix.
Step 3. Working with a SM-58 in an Randall Isolation. Best seems to be a combination of 2 and 3.

However I am still considering Palmer PGA05. If anyone has any experience on that thing, please communicate. Studio is in a flat, so silent recording is almost a must.
