Here are 3 songs that I used C4's on overheads in a variation of the 2 stick pattern, only I use a string and get them in as close as possible but out of the way.
On "The Dangerous Gift" it is overheads only with a kick mic for some variation, and you can hear more of a room sound in it. The other 2 songs have snare mic (441)
The guitars are all done with the C4 too. I added some high shelf in an untreated mixing room, too, and may have overdone it on everything, so disregard that.
This stuff still needs some mix tweaks, it still on its 1st run of mixing, and will change quite a bit.

Have you got the drum tracks on their own? I'd love to hear them isolated (they get a bit covered by the guitars) but it sounds good from here.

Damn, mp3 quality sucks.
I really can't tell ya about the high end, the mp3 crushed it all.
But the guitars sound good to me!

Good job bro!

what did you use for the kick and vocals? It sounds like you had a bit of bleed (maybe) in the snare mic from the hihat when the drums first come in on the first track there (ember). But hey man it sounds good. I am glad you posted this because I was really looking at the C4's and now I am probably going to get them. You've got a pretty nice mix there outside of the open hats sounding a little heavy (imo).

Kick was a Sennheiser 602
Vocals - Soundeluxe U195 squashed to hell and back

If there was some snare bleed, its a lot less than there would have been had I used a 57 instead of the 441.

Yes, MP3 does suck ass.

And the hats, yes, I hate it when someone opens them al lthe way up and slams them, I donnt like that sound at all and it always overwhelms the mix. Thats the drummers deal, not mine, IMO.

Peace!

thanks tubey... I think the kick is also a little quiet after giving a few listens, but you did a great job!

Thanks... on my systems, the kick seems about right, especially my home system its almost too much. What are you listening on?

I looked at your web site, but no bio information is up.

What do you play?

I personally play guitar, bass, keys, and a little drums. But I played nothing on that material there, thats not my band I just engineered it.
As far as Coheed and Cambria, yeah you probably do, but I'm not REAL familiar with them, though most of the bands I do work for I often hear that name from them.
