Just a suggestion..........phone Mick Wordley at Mixmasters and tell him what has transpired, both with the mount and Alan's comments here...........alternatively or as well..........send him an email with a cut and paste of the relevant things from this thread.

Mick is a cool guy and will help as best he can.

It will be easier for Mick at Mixmasters to do it, but I will make sure it gets done. I can always ship Mick a spare one on his next order, so no problem, and that is why I have the distributors...to make sure all problems worldwide are handled.

If there is any problems, I will handle it with you directly, but it seems it would be easier and quicker for Mick to handle it, and I will handle Mick.

A bit OT, but:
Is it completly impossible to get someone here (Eastern Europe) to be a dealer for SP mics? I'd love to check them out, but the closest where I can get them is England.

We are trying, but the distributors are the ones that have to want to buy them. We have many good distributors, but not in all the countries.

If your in Estonia, then you are close to Sweden where Midwest Audio is. We have Dynabit in Poland as well, so you should get on our site and look at our international distributor page. There are distributors much closer to you than the UK.

You've frightened me....
...but not too much

I thought I'd share this idea for a "Safety Harness". In order to keep my studio area tidy, i've got a small velcro strip on each of my cords longer than 3'. Get them at your Home Depot/Lowe's/Trak Auto/K-Mart wherever. I buy the kind that are about 6" long, and have a rounded tab with a slit in it at one end (rainbow of colors) :cool:. For each cord, you take one velcro strip, wrap it around an outstretched cord. Put the small end through the slit, and pull it all the way through, causing the velcro strip to bind on itself. When you want to store/transport the cord, coil it loosely, and wrap the velcro around the middle. When using as a condenser mic cable/safety harness, thread the cord through those little clips on your stand (if you haven't lost them all). Assuming you're using your mic in the recommended capsule-down position, thread 1' of mic cable through the shockmount, and slide the velcro strap to about 1' away from the mic end of the boom, securing the cord tightly to the boom with the velcro strap. Then connect the cable to the mic, and open the shockmount, pushing the mic and cord up and into the shockmount. If your shockmount falls apart or becomes disconnected, your condenser will hang safely from where the velcro is attached to the boom.

Are the arms on the shockmount towards or outwards from the mic?
I know ...stupid question but the store I bought my C1 from had the shckmount on backwards.
It works great and I have left it out for days. I gotta say that this mic is incredible for the buck.
I'vebeen doing this for almost 20 years and used a lot of mics.
Any reviews in the works Alan? Home Recording, Recording. People relate to these mags.
It is a revelation!!! It's my best kept secret among my local peers. The vocals are gorgeus. You just have to use it properly.
 
Another solution ............

With a small amount of modification, these mounts could be adapted to take small springs in place of the elastic. Nothing a trip to an engineering supplier and a couple of hours wouldn't fix.

You've lost me. By "arms" do you mean the part that you have to squeeze together to get the shockmount to open?

Is there more than one type of shockmount that has been shipped with the C1?

I have expressed my opinion on this mount before. Yes, it is not a high quality fashionable device, but it is a functional one. In addition, it has a very small footprint. This allows you to get the mic in tight quarters, like in between drums in a tight kit set up. For me, I like that because some large spiders like Neumann, AT. ADK, and others, make impossible to get the mics into tight corners when you need to.

I really have no intention to sell an upscale mount version right now, unless I get a whole lot more demand for it. There have only been a couple of complaints and only two problems with thousands sold, so the odds are pretty good and they are holding up, unless of course they fall from six feet with the mic in them. :D

Hey Alan,
I have to tell you I was very surprised to hear you have distribution for your mics here in Sweden. There is not one single store in Stockholm (Sweden's capital) that sells any of your mics. Midwest Audio seems to be a Norvegian company, which may have something to do with it. No, Norway and Sweden are not the same. Norway are not even part of the European Union which I can imagine could cause some trouble and extra expenses.

But anyway, they offered me to buy the mic (I'm considering a C3)and return it if I wasn't happy, so I suppose it's OK. They invited me to the LLB Trade Show here in Stockholm so I could try it out.

I will be at that show, so if your there...stop by. I don't know much about the politics there, but Midwest Audio does have an office is Sweden. Since their show is in Stockholm, my guess is they intend on doing business there.

Anyway, if they are willing to let you try it, they must be confident that you will like it!!.

Sorry man.....I have been away.

Yes I mean the little arms, springs, whatever, that you squeeze to release the shockmount you are right. The store had them wrapped in the elastic and it did'nt hold properly. I had to set it up the right way to hold. The unit is quite tight now on the mic. I can't see it falling off.
Anyway if I confused you I appologize.
