Hi everyone....I was just given an AKG C-418 for alittle overdub/editing work...It's actually not a bad little mic at all...Used it live for snare on the weekend and sounded pretty damn good compared to the ol' 57 I usually use...
ANYWAY...My questions this....I dig this little mic, but I'm not impressed with the cable it has...Seems damn flimsy to me...So is there anyway of getting into the houseing *where the clip is* and changing over the cable to something different?...I was also thinking of locating the end phantom plug a couple of inches or so from the actual mic to make it more convieniant for packing ect...Any drawbacks anyone can see with doin' this?...Cheers!

I don't know... but I'll bump this to the top of the board for you. :)

Hey Memri..............those cables are what turned me off buying 418's a couple of years ago, they really do look as though they need to be treated carefully. Have you thought about contacting the AKG agents for some advice.

OT..........how's that console going and also can you tell me what needs to be done to the B16 to get it "studio" usable?

Heya Aus...You've got a PM...
Yeah, I don't blame ya, the chord just isn't tough enough me thinks, though I havn't had a problem yet and mabey never will, I find myself alway being over gentle with it which can get to be a pain in the arse....
The Solitaire's goin' great man....everyone I've had through's loved the sound from it on their work and I find it great to work with....Loven' it....I scored some Tannoy System 800's last month so now I'm REALY hearing what it's all about....
