It sounds electrical. It's a low steady bzzzzzz. I hear it in my headphones sometimes. Sometimes the introduction of a mixer or tube preamp boosts it up to a hideous hiss. Connecting my boss gt6 to my soundcard via the analog audio in jack seems to bring deplorable amounts of it.

What is it? Where is it coming from?

How do you eradicate it?

RFI - Radio Frequency Interference. You may have a fluorescent light, or a transformer or some other electrical device spitting out the noise. Turn everything off in the nearby vicinity first - do you still have it? They try the devices you are using - cables, monitors, etc. CRT monitors and TVs put out a ton of interference that will get picked up by guitar pickups.

Just to add to "junk-noise," try checking plugs/cables.

Some of my older plugs were molded, not soldered. The other day, I started hearing my synth start shorting. Checked and found the cable was shorting slightly, off/on now and then. THEN, I removed it and dumped the cable.

That day as I just did a general check, I found 3 other cables of various age, mostly older and molded, also not working. Dumped them.

Sometimes I forget that a "cable" has been in my studio for 15 years. They do just kind of disintigrate and corrode.

It only takes a few minutes to check and replace when needed.
