I'd welcome feedback on the following planned purchase. I record voice only to CD (mp3), not music, no multi-track, just me talking...

Windows 2000
Sound Card
Working with basic mic and Cool Edit now
Results good so far
Using MIXONIC.COM - to do the burn/label/dupe

I'm thinking of buying this and using it as follows

DMP3 Preamp by M-Audio ($199.00)
Proformance P610 Mic ($99.00 - on sale for $49.00)

Here's how I'd use it:

Connect Mic to Pre-Amp
Pre-Amp to Sound Card
Use Pre-Amp to adjust recording volume
Cool Edit 2000 to do recording and editing
Record as .WAV
Save as .MP3
Send to Mixonic via 'net

If you haven't visited this Mixonic site, check it out. I found it last night on Google.

This $250/300 is in my budget to start this project. I'll probably drop another $100 on an additional hard drive for my PC to hold all the recordings.

Thanks for your .02 cents. I appreciate it. Happy 4th of July. It's a hot one in Boston!

That preamp will do the job but I've never heard of that mic and doubt it will really deliver. Check the mic forum for good cheap mics. At $100 you could get a Shure SM 58 or 57 or a MXL V67 condensor.

hey I'm from Boston too, sweatin' my balls off!
