what's up guys i am recording using cool edit pro and also a list of other programs (cubase, logic audio , etc.... I have a behringer 6 channel mixer that i am using as my pre-amp, and i also have the M-audio Audiophile 2496, i am using the Audio Tecnica MBC-4000 midnight blues mic, and i am not happy with it. I am looking to spend around 200 to 300 dollars on a new mic Any suggestions???

What applications ? Vocals, acoustic guitar, snare drum, etc. ?

suggestions?

Yep! Hang out for a day or two. You'll see two or three more threads just like this! ;)

Seriously, check out some of the other threads here.

Hey Napoe...

Usually folks around here are very polite and helpful, but your question really has been answered about 20 times over in just the past 2 weeks in several threads.

Take a look around, read a bit. Just about every decent mic in your price range comes up here daily. You'll pick up on which ones are the most popular and why with just a little reading back in this forum.

And welcome to the board! There is a ton a great info here, lots of great people, and lots of fun to be had.

Take care,
Chris

Napoe, try to purchase your next microphone from a dealer with a
return policy if possible so you can properly check it out at home.

hey, I have the audiophile2496 and Beh** 602a combo as well...
though I never use the pres of the beh** since I have the VC3Q... I am using a SM57 as vocal mic now but will be getting a SP C1 real soon....

I would suggest you get a better pre and mic combo....

I would suggest maybe Audiobuddy + SM57/58, <$200

What? Is "Behringer" a dirty word or something? It IS???? :( All right! I admit it! I have a Behringer "Ultra-Patch Pro" Patch Bay!!

:( You've made me cry.

If you have any experience with soldering electronics and stuff you could make a pretty nice tube mic with that much or probably less. Heh just a thought.

hey don't make fun outta me but err ... what's wrong with behringer :) ?? i mean, i've used it several times and haven't noticed any bad stuff ... buuuuut i'm a n00b though :)

I dont think theres anything wrong with Behringer besides reliability and consistency. Ive had a behringer mixer blow for no reason a while back and it took months to get a replacement. The mixer was only a few months old also. But also inconsistency in the build is a problem. One mic might sound different than the other which may or may not be a problem.
