Buying MIDI keyboard

I want to buy a MIDI keyboard, but I don't know anything about these things. I'm no good at playing piano, I just want to lay down some string-tracks and some drum-tracks.
What do I need? Do you lovely boys and girls have any suggestions??
 
do you want sounds to go with this keyboard as well? you sound like one who could use a yamaha cs2x or similar then... or do you want strictly midi and no sound?

I really don't follow your logic.

There are pleanty of other keyboards that would do string and drums sounds well:

Yamaha S03,S30
Roland RS-5, XP-30
Korg X5D, Triton Le

These are current products that are on the inexpensive side.
 
you can get a yamaha cs2x fairly cheap too, and it has great sounds and is easy to get by... and pay notice that i said or similar... so what's up with that post?
and we haven't even heard if he means a midi controller or a keyboard synth...

I was unclear, but as I said I don't know anything about these things. 8D ...I meant a midi controller...I want to use use with a softwaresampler and lay down the tracks in protools le.
