how do i start burning a song past the start of the song?

um...edit the part out in a sound application.

What are you trying to do??

there isnt a feature to burn after the start..you cant select parts of a song. you can only burn the entire track.

is it a WAV file/??

That is a rather odd request. Is the beginning messed up or do you want only a portion of it??

reply to Teddy from Bruce La Gant.

I am trying to get past the 30 or so seconds of tuneup, stage banter etc... inherit in live tracks. These are wav files but I also would like to how to do it disc to disc. I figure if I use to do this with vinyl and cassette tape 30 years ago there has to be a way to do it digitialy. Thank You,Bruce.

You just need to bring the .wav file into any audio editor and cut out what you don't want, and then fade it in. Most editors let you draw fades into the .wav file. Then you can drag the wav file to the 0:00 mark or wherever you want it and mix it down so that you'll have a file that you can burn to a cd... minus the before concert noise and such. Good luck!

Assuming you're trying to KEEP the banter but move the start points - You need a PQ editor such as CD Architect, WaveLab or Samplitude Master.

IF you want to do it yourself., if you dont want to do it, I will be glad to do it for you for nothing.

What is a PQ editor??...and maybe a little off topic..but say I am burning one of my cds,...track by track...how do I get that info to show up on my cd player??
for example, some live cds I have gotten from others will say "wilco 11/03/05 as the title..but when I play my CDs nothing shows up. What is a way to "encode" this info on a CD so that it will scroll across the screen of my stereo??? or for example, AudioScrobbler is a plugin that attaches itself to your PC media player. It gathers stats from every thing you play on it, and puts it in a database. It then takes that data and matches you with other members who have similar tastes. How do I enter the names of the track or CD so that the name itself shows up on the player???really basic, silly question I know..but I have no idea how to do it. is this called "metadata?? I was just thinking to myself...man, it would be nice if something I made actually SHOWED UP on the stereo screen. yeah, i am a geek.

A PQ editor is used to edit the subcode bits on the CD that hold "properties"-style information for the track; things like ISRC codes, track start and end IDs, index locations, copyright and copy protection information, etc.

It's not difficult to do, it just takes the right tool. If you have software with PQ editing capabilities, it's just a matter of filling out the info. John "Massive" mentioned the names of three of the most common CD mastering applications, all of which include PQ editing capabilities.
