Building Guitar Cable

I'm interested in soldering my own guitar cables. Can anyone recommend the best materials I can get to make noise free cables? I need a few for the pedal board (4 about 6") and 2 20". Do the longer ones need to be made of balanced cable?

Guitars are inherently unbalanced.

That's not an absolute. I know of at least one nutter (and I mean that as a term of endearment ) who has heavily modified, balanced guitars.

But a normal, off the shelf, guitar is unbalanced.

Cool, so as far as building materials for the best cables in the universe, what can I use??

Since I'm all thumbs when it comes to solder-guns, DIY, etc., I can only recommend "George L" cables...!....No solder needed..

If this is a single person home studio, my advice would be to just buy some cables. I bought a bunch of patch leads off a dealer on ebay for less than I could buy the connectors (and I get trade price), let alone cable and assembly. And cable usually comes in full rolls. By the metre price is at full retail.

Cable quality is mostly related to reliability and longevity. A home studio is far less harsh than a live touring band.

Take a soldering class the first day they go over what end to hold.

Yeah, I've been wondering where to get the cable from.
Connectors are easy to get, I'm just having trouble getting the actual cable itself.
