When building Ethan's Traps; Will this insulation work?
http://www.roxul.com/sw34143.asp

And if so, I have a question for either Ethan or someone who can answer this correctly.

I do not want to drill into my wall, becuase where I am living I cannot damage the walls besides putting a couple nails in. Is there a way to make the bass trap a fully containted unit and hang it? Or will it not work properly... I saw Ethans "RealTraps" had the kind of ease of use which I really liked, and I was hoping I could build my own that would do the same...

Thanks guys

Toggle bolts only need a 3/8 -1/2" hole. Plaster it up when you leave. And then paint it. Its that Easy !! Really.

I built the bass traps in 2x4' sizes and hung them on the walls. While I haven't been able to compare with the traps built into the wall, I think they've done a pretty good job of evening out the bass response in my room. From what I understand, you need to make sure that the backside plywood is rigid (3/4" or thicker) and possibly braced to improve stiffness although I haven't gone that far. Also, you need to try to get them as close to the wall as possible. I haven't found a good way to hang them with hooks that doesn't leave a fairly sizeable gap, but I'm not sure how critical that is. These things are heavy, and I suggest forgoing the drywall anchors and going for the studs if possible. My new place is on 2" centers which makes that pretty much impossible, so I had to use anchors and nothing has fallen down yet!!
