I should be recieving some mineral wool and 703 next week but I want to start building the frames this weekend. I just have some questions on the exact sizes to build them. If I build frames that are exactly 2' X 4', will I have any trouble getting the sheets in them? I ask this question because Im not sure how plyable this material is...if its pretty hard, I may need the frames to be slightly larger. Any advise?

also...I plan to use 1 X 4's for the frames...I know this will be fine for the 2" 708 but the mineral wool is 4" so im wondering if the 1 X 4's will be ok or should I go with something larger?

The 4" mineral wool is pretty rigid (varies a bit by brand and density), so you'll want the interior dimensions of your frames to be 2'x4' if you don't plan on trimming the insulation to fit. 1"x4" boards will be fine for the frames.

For a set of step-by-step instructions, click on my signature below, then select "Bass Traps" or "Broadband Absorbers" on the page that opens. There are lots of ways to skin this cat, though. This is just how I did it.
